With a slightly flared, columnar shape covered in deep ridges of a shimmery, silvery green shade, Stenocereus pruinsus makes for a stately addition to any succulent collection, either as a standalone specimen or as part of a potted arrangement. With proper care, this relatively slow-growing variety can reach up to 24 inches in height, though its growth will be limited by factors such as level of sunlight exposure and pot size. 

Full sun will allow for the most ample growth and aesthetically pleasing form from Stenocereus pruinsus. Beyond this, its care is quite simple and largely boils down to a well-draining pot and soil mix, coupled with a thorough yet infrequent watering routine. Due to the large volume of water stored in the stem of this variety, overwatering is the most surefire way to cause problems for Stenocereus pruinsus, including rot or pests.

Hardy only to Zone 9, it is critical to move Stenocereus pruinsus indoors during the winter months in all but the most temperate of climates.
